Lower School — Kings

Lower School

Years 7 to 9

Lower School is where Kings begins for younger pupils. Lessons are live, classes have twenty pupils at most, and Years 7 to 9 move from settling into online school to readiness for Senior School.

Year 7

Settling in

Pupils learn the routines of live online school and strengthen English, mathematics and science.

  • Short, focused live lessons with a clear start and end
  • Study skills: how to organise work, ask a question, and finish a task
  • Regular feedback so families can see progress early

Year 8

Building the base

Subject work deepens. Writing gets longer, problems take more than one step, and independent study becomes a habit.

  • Longer written responses and simple investigations
  • A timetable that still leaves room for clubs and sport
  • A tutor who watches the week, not only the mark

Year 9

Ready for Senior School

Pupils practise the thinking Senior School will ask of them, and choose O Level, IGCSE or International GCSE with a teacher.

  • Guided choice toward the Senior School route
  • Placement conversation before the next stage
  • Families receive a plain update each term

How the week works

  • Live lessons on a published timetable
